A quintet of the Coldstream Guards and the Pipe Major perform for children in Morocco
A quintet of the Coldstream Guards and the Pipe Major of the 1st Royal Tank Regiment performed at the Children's Hospital in Rabat on Wednesday 17th June 2009. The visit by the British Army musicians, many of whom had just taken part in the Trooping of the Colour in London, represents the second consecutive performance at the hospital following the Royal Gibraltar Regiment Band playing there last year. The performance included of many children's favourites such as "The Elephant" and "The King of the Swingers". The hour long concert finished with the instantly recognisable "Frere Jacques" which had adults and children alike singing along. The Band then handed out small gifts such as pens, pencils and postcards to the children. It is hoped that the strengthening bond between the hospital and the British Armed Forces will flourish in the coming years. Having played at the children's hospital, the Band will also play at the orphanage at Tit Mellil during their short visit to Morocco.
